Sarah and I spent the first day here in Delhi touring around with our driver Sanu. Over the past couple of days we have come to love Sanu. He is a kind hearted, sweet, divine human being with a spirit made of gold. Every time we want or need something he manifests the most amazing version of that thing for us. He took us to the Bahai Lotus Temple first. The lotus temple was built by the Japanese and is called that for its resemblence to a lotus. It is huge and pristine. Inside it people of all backroundscome to pray. The bahai have the most amazing, beautiful values. They believe that all religions have one piece of the puzzle of human understanding and spirituality. They are accepting and loving of all faiths. They believe we should all have one common language that all humans speak, other than our native touge, so that all people could communicate. The temple, the people and the experience on a whole was inspiring. Every where we walked people just stared at us in awe and smiled. We were glad that they were staring at us because we were staring at them. At one point a woman walked up and handed me her baby and said to hold her. I was afraid that the woman would run off and leave me with this lovely child, but she just took my picture with the baby and gave me kind words.
After the temple we went out to lunch at a fancy restaurant and had amazing Indian food. No tummy aches as of yet! Hooray! Outside we played with a snake charmer and the snakes. I am glad I did that once but it was wierd, and I felt bad for the snakes, so I will not embrace this tradition again while here.
We then skipped off to do some shopping. Sanu brought us to his favorite shop and we had a ball. We played with all the amazing Indian fabrics and picked out our favorite's and then hired the tailor to hand make us Sari's to fit us.
We left the tailor to make our Sari's and went to Sanu's home to chill out a bit. Sanu was so kind to us. We satr at his home eating chocolate and drinking wine with his family. We played with the young babies dancing and skipping around on the roof top. We giggled, we celebrated the moment, and we rejoiced being so ALIVE and HAPPY!! Sanu let us use his shower and we cleaned up a bit. At this point we had been in the same clothing for 2 1/2 days.
Finally it was time to pick up our handmade Sari's, so we said our goodbyes to the sweet family with a promise to return in a week for a grand dinner! We picked up our Sari's and they were simply lovely! I got a pink and purple sparkley one, of course! And Sarah got a sparkle green one, of course! We were delighted with the handy work of the tailor!
Next we were off to the airport to FINALLY pick up our baggage! After much confusion and drama we got our stuff, and hopped in the car to drive the 12 hour ride up to the himalayas to begin our treck on top of the world.
The ride was long and gorgeous! The scenery constantly changed as we went higher! I could not even begin to describe the beauty to you, for I would not do it justice so lets just say that the himalayas are the most beautiful place I have ever been to in my WHOLE life! WOW!
We arrived dirty, sleepy, confused, car cramped, and excited in the middle of the next day. Since our arrival here we have decided that this is our mecca. We bought whole new wardrobe's for under $50. We made local friends and they cooked us dinner and we jammed out to american music. We are staying at a guest house on the mountain overlooking this huge wild river. It smells so clean up here. The rain came late in the day pounding with beauty to cleanse the earth and us. I could get lost here for a life time and be happy as can be with a simple life in this divine village. The people are colorful with the sweetest eyes. They take pride in their jobs, and they are so loving!
Tomorrow we leave for a 2 day treck up into the wild of the himalayan mountains. Tonight we have dinner and wine with our protector and assistant Indu. Indu manages the guest house and intuitively cares for us amazingly.
| miss and love my family and friends! I am so happy and so alive! I am on top of the world, and completely alive in my own world!
