Transcend Yoga & Transcend Healing form a system which helps one live a full, healthy life along the great path to the self-awareness. My ultimate goal is to teach a way of life that harmonizes a person internally, and with other humans, plants, and animals!
Transcend Yoga incorporates teaching, developing, healing, growing, health, spirituality, psychology, exercise, evolution, joy, love, and peace! The sharing of all of these things has been my driving motivation. The mission is to provide a place for people of all ages to playfully explore themselves, and create self-awareness.
Transcend Yoga is a creative infusion of various styles of hatha yoga! The yoga programs are designed to strengthen and tone while offering clarity and control to body/mind/spirit. Yoga can also be a great aid in healing a person's wounds and ailments.
TRANSCEND ADULT YOGA CLASSES
I offer two different blended styles adult yoga classes, which infuse various styles of yoga. I also teach the Ashtanga Primary Series. Transcend Yoga offers something for everyone! All classes are guided by a powerful focus on breath. I always incorporate the traditional cycle of practicing asana, then pranayama, and finally meditation as a means to gradually go deeper inside one's self. Each class introduces ancient yogic philosophy. I infuse deeper wisdom into the visceral experience of practicing asana & pranayama. This makes the practice reach through & beyond the physical experience of self, delving into the deeper corners of the mind. I enjoy giving nurturing, deep adjustments to help my students gain kinesthetic awareness of correct, safe alignment. I also encourage observation of one's own limitation's and potential, while working to the edge of possibility. I believe that Meditation is the “Main Event” when it comes to yoga. Students can expect a good, long, silent Shavasana that begins with simple & practical meditation techniques to follow. Finally, I close the circle of class by chanting ancient sacred mantras with the accompaniment of my harmonium.
As a student continues to attend Transcend Yoga classes, the intensity of practice builds. Gradually students achieve increasing flexibility, strength, and self-awareness. As in all of life, yoga is a continual process of change. I strive to take each student to the edge of self, every day!
This class is a blend of Restorative, Yin, Iyengar, and Svananda poses. This class aims to promote relaxation, meditation, stress relief, and healing. It also gently targets flexibility of muscles, joints, connective tissues, and fascia. The pace is slow, using long flowing breaths to soften deeply into postures. Once the foundation of the pose is set, we pause, melting into each shape for a long period of time, all the while cultivating meditative mindfulness. This class appeals to those individuals looking to master the fundamentals of yoga in a gentle, nurturing environment.
This class blends Iyengar, Ashtanga, & Vinyasa in an intense flow that is strength and flexibility building. During this class we use the art of Vinyasa: flow linking our practice like a japa mala: a strand of beads used for meditation. The postures are the beads, & breath is the strand linking them. The mala & the flow practice both are tools used in devotion & achieving deep meditation & peace. Power comes from holding strong poses, progressing towards more advanced postures, and moving more rapidly from one pose to the next without relaxation. This class appeals to those looking to delve deep into the potential of their body, as a means to reach higher levels of awareness.
ASHTANGA PRIMARY SERIES – Yoga Chitiksa
Ashtanga means 8 limbs, Yoga Chitiksa means 1st Series. This is a specific set of about 75 yoga asanas designed to build a steady, deep, focused, foundation practice of yoga. This series was strategically organized so that it teaches the practitioner to learn to withdraw the senses & go within, through the continual practice of this vigorous vinyasa style practice. One of my teacher trainings was in India at the Mysore Mandala Yogasala. I was trained in classic Ashtanga Primary Series amongst other subjects.
YOGA & MEDITATION WORKSHOPS
For years I have been a yogini on a pilgrimage of self discovery & learning. During this time I continued offering my soul work to the people who's paths I crossed. I am a member of the Inspirational Gypsy’s, a group of traveling muse’s. We travel around the world offering our gifts to individuals, groups, events, spas, studios, summer camps, organic farms, festivals, community centers, & gatherings. TRANSCEND KIDS PROGRAMS
All of my programs for children are dynamic, playful, & educational. I talk a lot about healthy safe use of the body. Throughout each class I nurture self-acceptance, & self-awareness. I teach the kid’s to celebrate the wonderful uniqueness of each person. The environment in the classroom is one of directed play. The children have so much fun that they hardly notice the skills being addressed, but walk away with a depth of knowledge.
KIDS YOGA - YOGA FOR LIFE: GROWING HAPPY, HEALTHY KIDS!
I designed this dynamic yoga for kids program on my own. I based the program on twenty years of experience working with children & families. I also tapped into the knowledge I gained from various intensive studies in Human Development, Child Development, Psychology, Education, & Yoga.
The program is offered to preschoolers, school-age children, and teens to learn about their bodies and yoga in a fun and creative environment. Through the use of playful games children learn sun salutations, a wide variety of the yoga poses, and fun breathing techniques. The young children learn these through the use of familiar themes such as animals, letters & numbers, travel, under the sea, the circus, partner poses, and many others.
Throughout the class they are encouraged to be aware of where they feel the different poses within their bodies. They are taught how to find their pulse in different places on the body. We explore how their breath works, and what its important function is.
My teen classes target self-acceptance of their changing bodies, and self-confidence about their uniqueness. We use yoga as a means of building awareness, while simultaneously working with their bodies and minds to achieve a place of health and fitness.
YOGA FOR LIFE TEACHER TRAINING
I am available to work with studios as a consultant to merge your philosophy with my dynamic Kid’s Yoga program, & help create a nitch for kid’s yoga within your community. I would infuse your philosophies into my program & host a training of this at your studio/spa.
YOGA FOR LIFE BIRTHDAY PARTY
This is a 1-2hour themed yoga workshop for birthdays. During the yoga class the children are introduced to fun yoga poses, playful yoga games, partner poses, & a full foundation yoga class. Throughout the class we explore yoga while celebrating our yogi of honor, the special birthday girl/boy!
KIDS CREATIVE MOVEMENT WORKSHOP
This is a 1-2hour themed workshop for kids, which incorporates yoga, dance, games, art, & various forms of self-expression! I offer this at birthday parties, schools, community centers, after school programs, & summer camps.
KIDS YOGA CIRCUS WORKSHOP
I offer this dynamic 1-2hour program at various festivals, events, & summer camps. We use our imaginations to go on a journey to the circus, exploring yoga & ourselves along the way! Through the use of songs, games, imaginary play, & the practice of yoga poses, children go on a fun adventure of self-discovery!
